About Nate Martinez, Founder of NTM Sound

Nate Martinez is a Brooklyn-based sound practitioner, musician, composer, sound designer, and founder of NTM Sound, whose work bridges sound therapy, sound baths, meditation, and functional music. Through NTM Sound, Nate works with individuals, groups, companies, and students across private sessions, corporate workshops, public offerings, recordings, and online training.

For more than 25 years, Nate has worked with sound as a musician, composer, producer, engineer, sound designer, teacher, consultant, and speaker. His background across music, meditation, and sound-based wellness informs NTM Sound’s grounded approach to listening, reflection, and facilitation.

I’ve spent over 25 years working with sound in a wide range of roles—as a session and touring musician, composer, producer, engineer, sound designer, mastering engineer, consultant, teacher, and speaker. I’ve worked across diverse genres and recorded with notable artists including Bob Weir and The National. More recently, I contributed a sound art piece to Denniston Hill’s Chimera exhibition for the 2026 Venice Biennale. Throughout my career, I’ve remained driven by a passion for discovering sounds that are not only inspiring, but also serve as powerful tools for storytelling.

In 2011, my focus began to expand as I started exploring how music—and more importantly, sound—can shift perspective, support reflection, and create conditions for regulation, ease, and deeper listening.

Many of us are looking for ways to feel more balanced, reflect more deeply, and gain new perspective in our lives. My goal is to contribute to that process through sound, listening, and practical tools for awareness.

I founded NTM Sound in 2014 to share my knowledge and experience with others, beginning with one-on-one sound therapy treatments and community sound baths. I launched one of the first monthly sound bath programs in New York City at the Brooklyn Zen Center, and soon after developed a program for Sky Ting, while also leading weekly classes at MNDFL. These platforms allowed me not only to facilitate immersive experiences, but also to help shape emerging conversations around the role of sound in meditation. Through this work, I’ve contributed to a broader understanding of sound therapy and its benefits—becoming a recognized voice in the field. At the core of it all is a simple goal: to help people help themselves.

MY OBJECTIVE IS NOT ONLY TO PROVIDE A RELAXING ENVIRONMENT, BUT ALSO TEACH DAILY PRACTICES THAT YOU CAN DO ON YOUR OWN TO CONTINUE THE WORK WE'VE DONE TOGETHER.

Currently, I facilitate in-person and virtual workshops and sound baths for individuals, groups, organizations, and help contribute to wellness initiatives for global companies. As a public speaker, I specialize in topics related to deep listening and sound therapy as a pathway to mindfulness. I also work as a composer of functional music and as a sound designer developing sound meditation content libraries for a range of companies and apps.

As a functional music composer I incorporate a range of techniques and disciplines to create works that provide the optimal listener experience, often with the end goal of creating a greater sense of calm, which can help the participant shift into a different state of being; call it flow state, a meditative state, or deep relaxation. The result can be a noticeable shift in how the listener relates to sound, attention, and their internal state.

As a teacher, I developed a comprehensive online sound bath facilitation training program rooted in deep listening, instrument study, psychoacoustics, session design, and ethical facilitation. My intention is to help students build confidence, clarity, and a grounded relationship to the practice of sound facilitation.
